Wie das palästinensische Außenministerium Ende vergangener Woche ◥mitteilte, verurteilt Rami Hamdallah, Premierminister von Palästina, die Entscheidung des israelischen Wasserunternehmens Mekorot, mehreren palästinensischen Städten und Dörfern im Norden des Westjordanlandes die Wasserversorgung abzustellen. Wegen der Maßnahme haben Zehntausende Palästinenser während des Fastenmonats Ramadan keinen Zugang zu sauberem Wasser.

"Israel führt einen Wasserkrieg gegen Palästina" - Israel möchte auf diese Weise verhindern, dass Palästinenser ein Leben in Würde führen können, während illegale israelische Siedlungen eine ununterbrochene Wasserversorgung genießen, so Hamdallah. Man stiehlt das Wasser und zwingt Palästinenser damit große Summen auszugeben, um ihr eigenes Wasser zurückzukaufen, teilte der Premierminister nach Angaben des Außenministeriums in einer Stellungnahme weiter mit.

Jamal Dajani, Direktor für Medien und Kommunikation im Außenministerium, sprach von einem "unmenschlichen und abscheulichen" Vorgehen des israelischen Wasserkonzerns und einem Wasserkrieg gegen Palästina. Es würde Israel nicht ausreichen, sich Land und Ressourcen anzueignen, "sie verweigern den Palästinensern auch ihr Recht auf Wasser", so Dajani.

In seinem neuen Buch War against the people behauptet der israelisch-amerikanische Autor und Aktivist Jeff Halper, dass das wahre Genie Israels anderswo lügt: als herausragender Verkäufer von Hi-Tech-Instrumenten und Taktiken, um Krieg "in der ganzen Bandbreite" zu führen, um "terroristische" Entitäten zu vernichten, um Grenzen und interne Ghettos zu überwachen und widerspenstige Bevölkerung zu "sichern/securitize", alles unter realen Lebensbedingungen in den besetzten palästinensischen Gebieten und dem belagerten, hoffnungslisen Gaza Kampf erprobt.

In der globalen, post-9-11 permanenten Kriegswirtschaft, sagt Halper, hat Israel aus seiner permanenten Unterdrückung des palästinensischen Volkes einen riesigen Wettbewerbsvorteil herausgeschlagen, äußerst attraktiv für mächtige Eliten "im Zentrum und in der fernen Peripherie".

Das quid pro quo für die Lieferung von Lösungen für die permanente Kriegsführung für die großen und weniger großen Mächte der Welt: Straflosigkeit für Aktionen, bei denen sich alle einig sind, dass sie schlimm gegen das Völkerrecht verstossen, wie (z.B.) den Transfer eigener Bevölkerung in besetztes Gebiet und das rasche Einschliessen der besetzten Subjekte in Homeland-Gefängnisse.

Die üblichen Medienberichte bringen Israel in Zusammenhang mit einer herz-erwärmenden "start-up"-Nation, die immer am Rand der Vernichtung steht. Vor 49 Jahren, in Gefahr zum dritten Mal überfallen zu werden, wie seine Verbündeten und die Massenmedien sagen, nahm es ein Stück jenseits seiner international anerkannten Grenzen ein, wo Millionen "Palästinenser" lebten (Israel leugnet, dass es tatsächlich Palästinenser gibt). Im Lauf der Jahre hat es 650.000 eigene Bürger unter dem Schutz der israelischen Armee und Polizei in das von ihm so genannte "Judäa und Samaria" transferiert. Die internationale Gemeinschaft bezeichnet die Besatzung und die jüdischen Siedlungen als illegal (auch wenn die USA, Kanada und Westeuropa keine Sanktionen über Israel verhängen und tatsächlich in die Siedlungen investieren). Israel behauptet, "Judäa" und "Samaria" seien den Juden von Gott versprochen. >>>

Netanyahu’s Former Advisor Appointed As Facebooks ‘Head Of Policy’ - Jordana Cutler, also chief of staff at the Israeli embassy in Washington, has joined Facebook’s Israel office to oversee the planning and execution of measures taken to combat BDS campaigns.

Cutler’s new post was applauded by the minister of public security Gilad Erdan, who announced on Thursday a series of legislative measures taken by his government against promoting the boycott of Israel.

“If we want to convince the world that de-legitimation of Israel is something wrong and that there should be consequences, we must start here in Israel,” Erdan was quoted by Israeli media as saying during a conference in Herzliya. “There will now be a real price to pay for someone working […] to isolate [Israel] from the rest of the world. I set up a legal team, together with the ministry of justice, that will promote governmental legislation on the matter,” Erdan said. “There has been an advance in dialogue between the state of Israel and Facebook,” he said, “Facebook realises that it has a responsibility to monitor its platform and remove content. I hope it will be regulated for good.”

Shedding light on Gaza’s blackouts - A Palestinian farmer is to install solar panels on his chicken farm in order to ensure he obtains a continuous electricity supply, Arab48 reported yesterday.

Fifty-two-year-old Nahid Abu-Asi, whose farm is located to the east of Al-Zaytoun, central Gaza city, said his farm was destroyed twice by the Israeli occupation, most recently in 2014.

“I hope to afford 24 hour electricity in the farm because electricity blackouts mean daily losses,” he said, noting that generators are not reliable due to maintenance problems and they make a lot of noise.

“Despite the dire economic situation, I insist on installing solar electricity panels because chickens need electricity all day and night,” he said.

Abu-Asi applied for a $5,000 loan from an NGO working in Gaza in order to pay for the new project. “I will pay $200 a month,” he said. >>>

B'Tselem בצלם‎ - Israeli authorities demolished two family’s homes in mid-Ramadan.

Yesterday, 19 June 2016, Civil Administration and military forces came to the Palestinian community of Wadi Ejheish, which is known as “south Susiya”. The forces demolished the homes of two families that number 21 people in total, including four women and 14 minors. The forces also demolished two livestock pens. One of the demolished homes had been donated by a humanitarian aid agency.

Since January 2016 some 300 Palestinians homes and structures have been bulldozed by Israeli authorities. Hundreds have lost their homes to such demolitions, more than half of them children. This cruelty is not random: it is part of a broader strategy by Israel to push Palestinians out of parts of their homeland, consolidate Israeli control while making room for the further expansion of Israeli settlements.

21 Palestinian journalists in Israeli prisons - Ali Abunimah - The number of Palestinian journalists in Israeli prisons has risen to 21. This includes eight media workers arrested since the start of this year, prisoners rights group Addameer said on Monday.

Among them are Addameer’s own media coordinator Hassan Safadi and Omar Nazzal, a member of the general secretariat of the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate. Safadi was detained in May as he returned from an international conference in Tunisia, while Nazzal was detained in April as he was en route to a meeting of the European Federation of Journalists. Both are among more than 700 persons in administrative detention, Israel’s British-colonial-era practice of imprisoning Palestinians indefinitely without charge or trial. >>>

Why is EU anti-Semitism chief smearing solidarity? - David Cronin - Has a senior European Union official been smearing the Palestine solidarity movement based on hearsay?

A few days ago, I learned that Katharina von Schnurbein, the EU’s anti-Semitism coordinator, felt that comments she made at a recent pro-Israel conference had been misquoted. So I called von Schnurbein asking precisely what she had said.

Von Schnurbein confirmed that she did not regard an article on the European Jewish Press website as accurate.

The article claimed that she viewed the Palestinian call for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel as motivated by a hatred of Jews.

After a brief telephone conversation, von Schnurbein emailed me what she described as her “exact words” at the conference, which was organized by the European Coalition for Israel, a Christian Zionist group.

According to the transcript she provided, von Schnurbein told the conference that “anti-Semitism can hide behind anti-Zionism,” before stressing the “EU’s firm rejection of the boycott, divestment and sanctions attempts to isolate Israel.”>>>
