Palästina: Die Kein-Staat-Lösung
Jeremy Hammond

VIDEO - Condemnation of terror:
Why the Innocent by Doc Jazz

click cc for subtitles!) A song dedicated to all the innocent victims of murderous atrocities, committed by violent groups, individuals and governments all over the world. Terrorism is unjustifiable; bombing civilians from jets, gunships and tanks also kills innocent people and amounts to exactly the same. Any distinction is fictitious, and meant to mislead you.

Killing innocent civilians is a huge crime. We must not distinguish between the innocent by their ethnicity, religion, or any other criteria. Their innocence simply makes it unjustifiable.

Islam says so, Christianity says so, other major world religions and the moral code of the United Nations say so too. Nevertheless, many around the world are either ignoring or distorting the message to suit their goals, and commit heinous criminal acts in the process.

We are all humans on this planet, we must therefore value all human life equally, and hold those who transgress against this accountable for violating the universal moral code of refraining from murdering people in their homes, in the streets, or anywhere else.

My heart goes out to all those who have been victimized by this type of brutality, no matter where on the planet they live. If you listen to the song, you will know that this is a heartfelt message. If you live in an area that sees a lot of violence, and are disappointed that your situation isn't specifically mentioned in the video, please forgive me. There is just a whole lot going on, too much to fit into a 5-minute song video.

For more information on the message of the song, and for the lyrics, you're going to have to watch the video. If you like it, don't forget to share, and subscribe! - Peace and Justice for all, Doc Jazz

Gaza Lives: Haidar’s story - Marking two years since the brutal Israeli assault that killed more than 2,200 Palestinians, #GazaLives tells the stories of Palestinians living there, in their own words. - Haidair Eid

My name is Haidar and I’m a professor at al-Aqsa University in Gaza.

I have witnessed three huge massacres committed by apartheid Israel, almost lost my life more than once, lost very close comrades, colleagues, relatives, and students. I have lived through an indescribable, ongoing trauma, and seen horror beyond words.

I have been prevented from attending my parents’ funerals, deprived of seeing my sister and nephews who live in Bethlehem, just a one-hour drive away, for more than 16 years, and have been without a reliable source of electricity and clean water since 2006.

I have seen the Baker children slaughtered in broad day light on a Gaza beach, and I have read with agony the names of 66 families that were totally wiped out by Israeli weapons and deleted from the civic registry.

I had to consciously fight against the possibility of becoming just a number in a news report on CNN, BBC, and Sky News.

2,200 people, including 551 children, were not that lucky in 2014. Nor were 1,200, including 443 children, in 2009, or 200 in 2012. The Israeli war machine and the deafening international silence took their lives. >>>

The agonizing afterlife of Mahmoud Darwish - Manash Firaq Bhattacharjee - The broadcast of Mahmoud Darwish’s famous poem, ‘ID Card’, by the Israel Army Radio made the country’s far-right defence minister, Avigdor Lieberman equate the poem to Hitler’s Mein Kampf. To begin with, it reveals the abysmally poor literary judgement and taste of the minister. No poem that has been accorded a place in history by readers and scholars alike can be a poem that argues hate. Everything, from the poet’s intentionality to the poem’s language, can be challenging and provocative, but it cannot dismiss hope and the promise of fraternity. Yet, as Darwish shows in ‘ID Card’, a poem can be harsh and corrosive, for it is desperate to tell an unpleasant story of history. “You have stolen the orchards of my ancestors / And the land which I cultivated / Along with my children / And you left nothing for us / Except for these rocks,” writes Darwish in ‘ID Card’.

How else, in what pleasanter language, can a poet register the forced dispossession of his people? In the last two lines, sarcasm jostles with despair, and one is left speechless. Is it the poem’s speechlessness, its harsh truth that bothered Lieberman? It is to Darwish’s credit if his poem leaps across time to disturb a reactionary apologist of the Occupation.

It has been reported, Lieberman was most offended by the last lines where Darwish writes, “I do not hate people / And I do not steal from anyone / But if I starve / I will eat my oppressor’s flesh / Beware, beware of my starving / And my rage.” It is rather hilarious that the minister read it as a cannibalistic threat issued by the poet. He needs to attend, if he cares, some elementary classes where the distinction between literal and literary language is taught. Unless it is a bizarre attempt by the minister to make a believable denunciation, or perhaps he is simply trying to say, Darwish is a bad poet who needs to be read like all Palestinians – without nuance, wisdom or empathy. >>>

My daughter sends joy to Gaza - Rami Almeghari - It has been a long time since my family has had reason to celebrate.

For nine years my wife Faten and I have been intermittently separated from our school-age children as we traveled back and forth between our home in Gaza and Cairo as Faten needed brain surgery and radiotherapy treatment unavailable here.

Palestinians in Gaza are not able to travel freely as Israel has imposed total closure for nearly a decade, and Egypt has kept the Rafah crossing, the main exit and entry for the vast majority of Gaza’s nearly 1.9 million residents, closed. Only for rare exceptions is it opened. >>>

When Israel's leaders incite, one soldier pays the price - Elor Azaria is guilty for firing the bullet that killed Abdel Fatteh al-Sharif this past March. But let us not forget the long line of inciting comments by top Israeli leaders that made it possible. - Noam Rotem

Sgt. Elor Azaria stood on the witness stand during his trial this past week and described what led him to fire a bullet into Abdel Fatteh al-Sharif’s head on March 24 in Hebron’s Tel Rumeida neighborhood. Al-Sharif had, just moments before, stabbed an Israeli soldier before he was shot, wounded and posed no threat to anyone. Azaria fired his weapon directly >>>

Protection of Civilians Weekly Report | 19 - 25 July 2016 - OCHA - Latest developments -
• On 27 July, during a search and arrest operation in Surif village (Hebron), reportedly following fire exchange, Israeli forces killed a Palestinian man suspected of carrying out a shooting attack on 1 July, which killed an Israeli settler. During the operation, the forces shelled the three-story building where the suspect was hiding, destroying it entirely and displacing three families.
• On 26 July, the Israeli authorities demolished 15 structures in a section of Qalandia village that falls within the Israeli-declared municipal boundaries of Jerusalem, but is separated from the rest of the city by the Barrier, due to the lack of building permits; six people were displaced and almost 180 were otherwise affected as a result.

Weekly highlights
• On 19 July, Israeli forces (reportedly border police officers) shot with a rubber bullet and killed a 12-year-old Palestinian boy during clashes near the northern entrance of Ar Ram town (Jerusalem). Since 12 July, Ar Ram has been a flashpoint for military operations and clashes. This incident brings the total number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces since the beginning of 2016 in the oPt, to 76, including 22 children, of whom 18 were killed during protests and clashes.
• Israeli forces injured 74 Palestinians, including 15 children, during multiple clashes in the West Bank. The majority of the clashes were recorded in protests in Abu Dis town (Jerusalem) held in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails and in the weekly demonstration in Kafr Qaddum (Qalqiliya), resulting in 46 injuries. Other clashes were recorded during search and arrest operations, the largest of which took place in Jayyus (Qalqiliya), resulting in ten injuries. Overall, 135 search and arrest operations were recorded during the week and 150 Palestinians arrested, with the Jerusalem governorate accounting for the highest portion of arrests (21 per cent). >>>
