Settlers storm Palestinian holy sites across the West Bank - Hundreds of Israelis, including large numbers of settlers, converged on religious sites across the occupied West Bank this morning ahead of the Jewish holiday of Purim, in visits Palestinians condemned as "provocative", Ma’an reported.

Locals told Ma'an that during the celebrations, which began late yesterday, the settlers "provocatively" used the mosque's loudspeakers "to sing racist songs that call for the expulsion of Arabs from Hebron."

The settlers were under the heavy protection of Israeli forces, who closed off the premises, preventing Palestinians from entering the mosque, and restricted access to the surrounding area.

Some Israeli media sites reported that as many 7,000 Israelis celebrated at the holy site, known to Jews as the Tomb of the Patriarchs.

Clashes broke out near the Balata camp, east of Nablus, when hundreds of Israelis, including settlers, visited Joseph's Tomb under military escort, Palestinian security sources said. >>>

Painians in Gaza are drinking contaminated water - Rayqa al-Malalha, 55, looks out her kitchen window at a putrid wastewater pond in the front yard of her Rafah City house in the Gaza strip. Her municipality does not supply clean drinking water, in part because the toxic pool is leaking into the water piping system.

Yet Rayqa’s troubles are not unique. Palestinians in Gaza regularly consume contaminated water, even when the liquid they drink has already been treated at a purifying facility. In Gaza 45-percent of the water processed in desalination plants is contaminated, according to the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA).

For nearly all Gazan households there is no alternative. Purchasing expensive tanks of clean water is unaffordable. Ninety-five percent of the strip’s 1.8 million residents rely on this polluted water. For those who can pay for clean water, they will spend up to a third of their income, found the water advocacy group E-WASH. >>>

Zionism’s long and rich history of delegitimizing Palestinians - Thomas S. Harrington -   Demonstrating once again the sniveling and shameless fealty to the wealthy that she and her husband have elevated to a high art over the last 30 years, Hillary Clinton wrote a letter to Israeli-American billionaire Haim Saban last July 6th in which she said that: I know you agree that we need to make countering BDS a priority. I am seeking your advice on how we can work together across party lines and with a diverse array of voices to reverse this trend with information and advocacy, and fight back against further attempts to isolate and delegitimize Israel. >>>

Decades on, Israel tries to bury its darkest times - Jonathan Cook - The National - Western understandings of the 1948 war – what Palestinians term their Nakba, or catastrophe – are dominated by an enduring Israeli narrative. Israel’s army, it is said, abided by a strict moral code. Palestinians left not because of Israel’s actions but on the orders of Arab leaders. In this rendering, the Palestinians’ mass dispossession was the fault of the Arab world – and a solution for the millions of today’s refugees lies with their host countries. For decades Israel’s chief concession to the truth was an admission that a massacre took place just outside Jerusalem, at Deir Yassin. >>>

Gideon Levy: Americans "Are Supporting the First Signs of Fascism in Israel"
Haaretz columnist Gideon Levy talks to journalist Max Blumenthal about how the Israeli occupation has poisoned not only the region but much of the world, and how BDS might be the last standing hope to dismantle it
